We’ve always had a soft spot for French designer Alexis Mabille since attending one of his early shows, so we were very excited to be back to his Fall 24 haute couture show. The venue being the ritzy Lido 2 cabaret on the Champs Elysée.
We arrived at the Lido through a bright red tunnel to find ourselves seated in a booth with a bottle of Champagne Pommery on ice waiting to be served by an elegantly attired waiter in bow tie. Was a very welcome touch to the show!
So the Lido’s waterfall effect descended neatly into the stage via its hydraulic contraption the lights went up and the collection ‘Champagne’ began with the models coming out of the stalls to the song by Amanda Lepore that is called, you guessed it, Champagne!
The atmosphere was electric and to a constant rapid fire of paparazzi camera flashes we were wowed by the first look a Chemisier-Boustier d’Organza in white glitter.
There were many more outstanding and stunning outfits capturing the show’s spirit of elegance, playfulness and fun. Particular favorites were a long asymmetrical sheath dress in midnight blue ottoman crepe with large satin bow sleeves and a long sheath dress in nude, micro-sequins, with an asymmetrical sleeve crafted from long fringes of gradient crystal beads.
The show had a surprise burlesque act with Dita Von Teese arriving from the floor in a giant champagne glass filled with bubbles, in which she mesmerized the audience with her risqué act.
Certainly one of the top shows of the week – 5 stars!
